Additi Gupta (or Aditi Gupta), born on April 21, 1988, is an Indian Television actress.Additi Gupta did her dream debut in Balaji Telefilms show Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil opposite TV hearthrob Harshad Chopra when she was just 19 years old. Her hometown is Bhopal and she always wanted to be a fashion designer, but things took a turn and she was chosen to play the main lead.
Additi's name wasn't spelled Additi, but Aditi, but due to Ekta's belief in numerology, an extra D was added to her name. Additi claims that she is not like her character Heer, and is more outgoing and loves to flirt with guys. Additi is a fashion designer by profession from Pune.
Currently she is playing the main lead Heer in the famous Balaji Telefilms serial Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. She has done various performances at events such as Star Parivaar Awards, Star Plus's Rang De India Independence day event, Balaji's Diwali Rishton Ki etc. She has done cameo roles in shows like Kayamath and the last episode of Kasautii Zindagii Kay.

Aaditi Gupta, the new find of Ekta Kapoor who plays the adorable Heer in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil has garnered appreciation and applause in her very first serial. Here is the charming actress sharing her thoughts with our reporter Ranjini Nair…

How is it working with Balaji Telefilms?This is my first serial and working with Balaji is really a very nice experience. After being with them for just few months, I can proudly say that we are all one big family. They are professionally the best unit to work with and we actors are treated very well.

Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil has managed to gain an enormous fan following in a very short span of time. Even the TRPs are getting higher and higher. What do you think are the main attributes for the serial to click from day one?The main attribute according to me is the love story which has been appreciated by one and all. People are fond of romantic stories and this is what has caught the eye of the audience and the results are very clear in the form of TRP’s. The story that started off as a passionate love story has gone to a higher level now and we actors are giving our best shot to make it better..

Your on screen chemistry with Harshad Chopra has been the talk of the town. How do you feel when your fans adore your jodi?We both are very good friends and it really feels nice to be the talk of the town (laughs)…You performed for the very first time in SPA. How was that experience?I would term it overall as a bad experience!! Though my performance with my on screen partner Harshad turned out to be good, I got very scared and nervous when I had to perform with Shweta Tiwari. I always knew she is a great dancer; I have been seeing her dance and groove for the past four years and the very thought that I cannot match her talent made my nervous…

So how do you rate yourself as a dancer?I guess I can dance well. I showed that when I performed with Harshad, but I screwed up my performance with Shweta. So let’s see how I go about the next time!!

The big buzz nowadays is the reality shows. Will you be part of any in the near future?There is no reality show on my chart right now. I don't want to do anything else; I just want to concentrate on Kis Desh Mein right now!!

Prem and Heer are going thro a series of problems. Ardent viewers of Kis Desh Mein want to know when exactly will they get united.. Can you throw light on this..Well, even I don’t know what is in store for the love birds, Prem and Heer. As of now, we are in an awkward situation where Prem’s marriage is about to happen. We both love each other but just cannot reciprocate our feelings…

The initial track of Kis Desh Mein… had a story line wherein Prem and Heer get married, but Prem was to be bumped off, and this is where Prem’s brother Preet gets married to Heer. Is this story line in the pipeline even now?Is it? I really have no idea about this track at all. It would be better if you could direct this question to our creative…

Are there any other offers in the pipeline?No, I don't have any other project as of now. I don't want to take up anything, as I want to give my full concentration to this show…

Will you prefer to do shows outside Balaji..No, I will not do any show outside Balaji. It's like my family and right now I can only say that I am enjoying working with them…

This will be followed by Benaf aka Baby who will be seen grooving to Badal Pe Paav Hai from Chak De! And without crutches for sure! Who says only the silver screen male actors can do macho acts? Do watch this particular dancing act in which Shabbir Ahluwalia, Hussain, Shaleen Bhanot and Kapil Nirmal will be doting the macho man look and doing some stunning dance moves. Lastly, there will some sizzling on-screen couples who have been nominated in the Favourite Jodi category performing one by one on some romantic tunes. Prem who was hiding on the side of the door comes in front, and is surprised to see the girl of his dreams standing in front of him. Heer is also shocked to see him. Prem wants to enter the house to bring a smile on her face, there were absolutely no dialogues between Prem and Heer, with both of them were blocking each other's way playfully That was soooooo cute and one of the best couple scenes in recent times, the Chemistry was sizzling. They indeed make a very sweet and a cute pair..Dialogue of the Week:" Yeh Preet itni aasani se I love u kaise bol leta hai, jab woh un ladkiyon se pyar bhi nahin karta ", says to himself a tensed and consfused Prem who wants to express his love to Heer!!Style icon of the week: Hands down Prem/Harshad with his WOW looking striped shirts.Blooper of the Week:-During the party episode Heer who was obviously working at night shift and out of the blue DJ comes and tells Heer to get ready and she dumps her official duties then and there to get ready, without seemingly taking any permission from her boss... The extra 'd' in Additi Gupta's name invites curiosity enough to ask her the reason for it. This newcomer, an Ekta Kapoor find, was asked by the daily soap queen to add that extra 'd' to her spelling to bring luck to her serial. "It was decided for numerological purposes. I didn't mind changing the spelling of my name. Ekta ma'am is very nice to me. She teaches me a lot of things and she narrates everything well," says Additi. This young girl makes her debut opposite Harshad Chopra in Kis Desh Mein Hain Meraa Dil. Does she identify with the role she plays? "I am simple and not very loud like Heer in the serial. But I am entirely different when it comes to her attitude. I am not a salwar kameez girl at all and I don't completely obey my parents," she smiles. This erstwhile aspiring fashion designing student had never thought of acting as a career option. She says, "I come from Bhopal and was doing a fashion designing course in Pune. That was when Balaji Productions had an audition in Pune and my friends insisted I go for it. I always had stage fright, but I like to dance and am more of a sports person. I got selected and I still think that is a very good break to have started with such a big serial and a great production house." So, will fashion designing now be an alternate career? "I was having fun doing the course and fashion designing was as interesting as acting. I have taken a break for a year and will go back to studies but it may take a while given to my busy schedule." Considering hectic schedules take a toll on the health and lives of actors, is Additi on the way to joining the brigade? "I am quite sleep deprived right now but it's not that hectic. I think it's pretty manageable." We tell Additi that the television industry is brimming with starry-eyed youngsters, who leave academics midway to pursue their glam dreams, and she says, "That's because the roles demand fresh faces. Also, time is an important factor. Senior actors can't afford to give that much time to the serials." This pretty girl believes that it's high time the television industry got a revamp. "The audience really needs a change. People watch TV for entertainment and need to get out of the saas-bahu tracks. But these serials are popular and we have to give them what they want," she says. Besides improving on her acting, Additi likes to travel for promotions. "I like to travel for promoting my serial. It feels nice to explore new cities and take a break once in a while," she signs off. Scene of the Week :The best scene this week in the show was when Teji and Balraaj Maan die in a bus accident. The story took a turn as nobody was expecting this to happen so soon. The scene was shot very well and it made many viewers cry to see something this emotional happen and Heer (aka Aditi Gupta's) acting made it even better. Now, the daughters are on their own to put together their future.
Dialogue of the Week : When Heer and Meher come to know about their parents' death, they sit beside the dead bodies and shout "Maa, papa... kidher ho aap?! Dekho yahan kya ho raha hai..." Both of the sisters did a very good job in that scene to make it an emotional and a must-watch scene!
Style Icon of the Week : It would have to be Preet! This new hottie has the look and style which girls want to die for. His "cool-dude" attitude and "bling" makes him THE BEST this week in KDMHMD! A spoiled, yet sweet, brat is all set to rock the show!
Blooper of the Week : Heer's mom asked for a glass of water. Later when she spotted Manmeet's shaadi picture, she dropped the glass and it dropped as if it had no water in it whatsoever! So, basically she was drinking from an empty glass!!

FIRST WEEK REPORT

Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil is a love story about two people who are meant to be together since their childhood, but haven't met each other and yet they know each other's feelings. In the starting weeks, many flashbacks were shown to let the viewers know about the history which will affect the present time. Both Heer and Prem's families were introduced and viewers got a good idea of who everyone is... Not only that, Heer's parents have already died and now the REAL story will begin with Heer getting to know about her future and meeting her love, Prem.
About Actors: This new show is filled with newcomers who are pretty good to begin with. Preet, Harman, Heer and Meher are all newcomers who play important characters. But, there are also some well known faces from television who are a part of this show. For example, Tasneem Sheikh (Mohini of Kyunki Saas...) plays the sneaky chachi ji while Harshad Chopra (old Akshat of Amber Dhara) plays the male lead. Overall, the casting is good, though it'll take some time for the newcomers to reach the level of their seniors.
Set: So far, one house has been shown for a middle-class family in Punjab with many fields and greenery while the other is a grand mansion in Canada. But, the sets suit the story and go along with the current track very well!

Ekta Kapoor's is launching her new serial Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil 3rd March. The time slot of the serial will be 8:30 p.m prime-time , thus replacing the oldie, Kasautii Zindagii Kay. It is hoped that the show becomes an amazing hit. The name of the leading lady of the serial is Aditi Gupta. But since Ekta is fond of numerology fixture and is very gullible about it, it is understood that she made a bit change on the lady's name, she simply added another D in Aditi to make it more powerful. So wait and watch for another capacious serial from Balaji.

Additi Gupta aka Heer Maan, who is the latest addition to Ekta's list of newcomers, has been put under observation by the soap queen. On Ekta's insistence, she was taken to a well-known dentist to beautify her smile. Confirms the actress, "Yes, I have had two sittings so far. Actually my teeth are crowded and they overlap each other so I had to get that corrected. It is basically to acquire a beautiful smile." Additi has also been placed under the strict guidance of a dietician so that she knocks off the extra kilos. Additi, who is a foodie, is now on a strict diet. She says, "I have been advised by the dietician not to have rice, burgers and soft drinks. I start my day with juices and am allowed only two chapattis with each meal. My meal consists of two rotis, dal and sabzi. But I am not complaining as it is for my benefit." She adds, "I was required to run in the fields for shooting the promo of the serial and this helped me beat off four kilos in 20 days which is quite good." There is also a buzz that Additi goes to Siddhivinayak temple with her guide Ekta every Tuesday. About it, she informs us, "I went with Ekta to Siddhivinayak last Tuesday for the first time. I believe that we will be going this Tuesday also. I have heard that this temple is very pious and prayers get fulfilled so let's see. We want to have God's blessings with us."

A phenomenal success is what the latest daily soap 'Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil'has turned out to be. And Balaji Production is finally heaving a sigh of relief.

Balaji have hit a gold mine with this soap launched in March.There was a lot of speculation surrounding the launch of their new show. The show is based on strong family values, and a love that blossoms braving all odds. Set against a traditional Punjabi family backdrop, 'Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil' is the story of two friends and the promise they make to each other: The promise which decides the destiny of their children Heer (Additi Gupta) and Prem, the two newly-launched faces from the famed production house.

It was a calculated risk. Because 'Kasauti Zindagi Kay' had a loyal fan following. Would the audience be receptive to a new show or would they shift loyalties? Additi had no acting aspirations

It's been just 2 months since Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil started on Star Plus. But the serial has gone on to bag many nominations. Additi Gupta, who plays the main lead in the serial, has managed to get the nominations for not one but for three categories for the same serial - Favourite Beti, Favorite Yogya Jodi and Favourite Naya Sadasya (Female).
Additi hails from Pune and feels completely new to Mumbai's kind of lifestyle. Additi, who has done fashion designing as well, says, "As a person I had never thought of acting at all. In fact I was doing my fashion designing course back in Pune and acting happened to me by chance and that's when I thought of giving it a shot. It feels great when you get such kind of recognition for hardwork within such a short span of time." Additi is not worried about winning. "Getting nominated itself is a big thing and and too for a serial which has just started and replaced Kasauti Zindagi Kii which was a huge success. So I am really not thinking about winning but definitely looking forward to the awards nite as it will be first awards function," she explains. Additi will be performing at the function and is really nervous as this too will be her first performance on stage. In fact initially she had rejected the offer of performing. "Although I have been facing camera for some time now still I am camera shy and not used to so many people around me. So performing for the awards was something which I was not feeling comfortable about. But somewhere one has to get over the fear so even I thought of that and later accepted the offer," she concludes.

As soon as the shot was over, we would rush back to our cars which had the heaters on at full blast. Even the unit hands were ready with shawls and sweaters for us at all times." For her debut show, it's quite a memorable experience "Oh yes. But I was touched how we all faced the calamity like a family. All the co-stars from Virendra Saxenda, Sadhana Singh and Tasneem Sheikh bonded very well and took care of each other including me." Tasneem Sheikh who plays the interesting part of Baljeet (she is known as Punjabi tadka in the show) says "In Mumbai, it was eight degrees , so you can imagine how cold it was there. As Mumbaities we are not used to such extreme weather. Add to it, I was down with Malaria and hence was shivering badly. But I credit the production people who provided us all with the necessary thermals and took good care of us. Thankfully, my hubby Sameer was with me because he wanted to see Chandigarh. Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil is the new serial on Star Plus by Ekta Kapoor. This serial has replaced the never lasting love story of Anurag-Prerna (or Bajaj- prerna)- Kasauti Zindagi Ki ( thank God because of the decrease in the TRP of the show finally this love story come to an end).Kis Desh….has started from 3rd march this year. Like all her serials Ekta has put all masala in it. It is basically a story of two friends- one is in Punjab and the other one has migrated to Canada for the better development of his career. The two friends have fixed the marriage of their children- Prem and Heer since their childhood. But due to some misunderstanding the friend in India- Balraaj Maan thinks that his friend- Lalit Juneja has forgotten his promise and so Balraaj fixes his daughter- Heer's marriage to someone else.Punjabi Background is Ekta's favorite. In this serial she has tried to show the typical Punjab which her actors have failed to portray properly. Like all other Ekta's serial in Hero's family a large number of members are there from dadi to step brothers, sister to cousins. So there is full scope of extending the serial. And also there is nakhre wali chachi to taunt on the bechari heroine and her parents. The other negative characters in the hero's family will be shown when Heer will go to her sasural.On the other side Lalit and his wife are planning to come to India with their son- Prem to bring their daughter-in-law home. So a lot of things are to be happened in the up coming episodes.
The female lead is done by a 19 yr fashion designer from Pune- Aditi Gupta(or Additi Gupta as Ekta has added an additional "d" to her name on the suggestion of some numerologist). Who is going to play Prem in this serial is not yet disclosed. Harshad Chopra or Ali of Left Right Left is playing Prem. Another important character in the serial is of preet- Prem's step brother who is very fond of Prem. Their jodi is like Ram- Laxman jodi. Agree or disagree with her, like or dislike her family dramas but it's difficult to ignore Ekta Kapoor and her conviction about what gets eyeballs on television. in her opinion women make exciting stories and men don't. Hence her success formula is very simple — begin a show with a strong female protagonist, add characters as the story progresses, refresh the plotlines with new twists and turns but don't lose focus from the central character and the show will go on and on. Ekta has followed the formula for nearly eight years now and has delivered amazing results. Others also copied her formula and some achieved similar results.
But lately things have changed. The formula seems to be losing its appeal. The days of glory and crackling TRPs are a thing of the past. The super K shows are struggling for decent ratings. As a result Kasauti Zindagi Kay had to be pulled off air and Ekta has come up with another love story to replace the bold and amorous tale of Prerna's passion for men.
"The germ of love and emotions are same but the setting, presentation and characters of Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil are different," says Ekta, adding, "Prerna was bubbly and outgoing but Additi of Kis Desh Mein is demure and protected. Kasauti was a bold and passionate love story but Kis Desh Mein is a younger story about an eternal and predestined love that transcends borders."
Ask Ekta why Kasauti had to be cut short, and she shoots back, "How many love stories have survived beyond two to three years? Kasauti lasted for seven years." Since she believes in not ending her shows till viewers don't say enough is enough, did she take a cue from Kasauti's sliding popularity? And were the low TRPs a result of the show's new generation not making a connect with viewers? "It's not that the generation leap didn't work. Things were fine with the new generation but the older characters (read Prerna, Anurag and Bajaj) were showing signs of fatigue after seven years. I don't think it was possible to continue it any further," she clarifies.
Talking about casting new faces in all her shows, Ekta says today daily soaps require actors to work for 30 days in a month. "Older actors can't go through the rigour of taking that kind of work load. Also, older faces that have done television for a couple of years come with the baggage of an image that can make it difficult for viewers to relate to their new roles. New faces work better because they bring freshness," she reasons.
Draw her attention to falling TRPs of most of her shows or try telling her that none of her shows launched in the past one year have done well and Ekta says she doesn't have the magic wand to deliver good ratings. "My shows have mopped up 15 and 18 TRPs in the past. But I can't repeat such performance again and again. The TRPs of serials depend on the channel's ratings too. If channels don't do well I can't deliver great numbers. Kasturi is not doing badly. Kuchh Is Tara is the number one show on Sony. Karam Apna Apna is the number one show on Star's afternoon band. Kasamh Se is getting decent numbers. My shows on 9X are also doing pretty well vis--vis the channel's viewership. If channels lose their share I can't be blamed for low TRPs," she justifies.
Ask her why the sudden cloud of secrecy and speculation about her mega production Mahabharat for 9X and Ekta evades the query saying, "I will not answer this question." However, she doesn't mind telling which one is her favourite serial. it's neither Kyunki nor Kahani. Not Kasauti either. Well, it's not a Balaji show at all. "My favourite serial is Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand," she says. Her favourite actors? "Ronit Roy and Hiten Tejwani," she replies. And who could be her favourite actresses? She takes a long pause before answering, "Smriti Irani and Prachi Desai."

Being superstitious is good for the producers and directors but only up to some extent. However Ekta Kapoor thinks otherwise. She does not believe in giving short titles to her daily soaps, one of which is her forthcoming Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, which was earlier titled as Khandaan. Apparently, Ekta has also asked Aditi Gupta, who plays Heer in the soap to add another D to her first name. Ekta's numerologist Sanjay Jumaani clarifies, "I have been suggesting the titles for Ekta's shows till now and fortunately it has worked positively for her. As far as the title change is concerned, we decided on Kis Desh… because it gels with the mood of the story where as Khandaan sounded more like any other family drama." Ask him about adding a D to Aditi's name and he says, " An additional D will bring more glory to her."

After having added a 'D' to her name, Additi Gupta, who debuts with Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil is obeying all instructions from her director. Ekta is very particular about the way her lead actresses look. That's why she has taken Additi to a very well-known dentist because she wanted Additi's smile to be perfect. "Additi's teeth are overlapped due to which her character was not getting the desired smile. So far she has had two sittings with the dentist," says a source. The actress has even been put on a diet. "Additi is on a diet currently but she is not complaining because she knows that it's for her benefit," adds the source. Talk about muscle power!

Soap queen Ekta Kapoor is very confident about her new find Additi, the lead (Heer) of her new show Kis Desh Mein Hain Mera Dil which will be replacing Kasauti. Ekta had a chat with us about the show.

On her new show, she says, "It is the story of two nations – India and Canada. The presentation and look of the show is unique. Based on Punjabi tradition, the treatment given is young and that is why I have taken fresh faces." Shedding some more light on the show, she says, "Heer is a very simple girl who accepts all decision taken by her parents. Her parents decide a boy for her but destiny has something else in store for her. On the other hand, Prem (male lead) is mamma's boy but also the one who keeps the family together. There is one vamp in the show and that is destiny. They are needed for TRPs." She is confident that the new faces will be able to make an impression. "They will surely create magic and will able to show the required passion. We had taken auditions from all over India but my team selected Additi. She was perfect for this role. Jay Bhanushali and Panchi Bora is all set to do 4 episode long cameo in Balaji's Kis Desh Main Hai Mera Dil. Jay is essaying the role of Yuvraj who is the friend of Heer (Aditi). His entry in the show will lead to a misconception between Heer and Prem.
"Heer owns a marriage bureau and she is planning the wedding of Yuvraj and Soni (Panchi). There is a different story line waiting in the life of Heer and Prem with the entry of the two," states our source.
Talking about the story track, our source informs, "With the entry of two, Prem also enter the sequence thinking that Heer is going to marry Yuvraj. There is emotional drama between the three which will ."
"Soon Prem will learn the truth and feels guilty about the same. This is when the new chapter in his and Heer life starts," adds the source.
When we called Jay to know further, he quoted that, "I have no clue of where my track will go but all I can say is that it feels good to be back at home."

Yet another fresh-faced couple from Ekta's telly brigade breezes through town

He is enjoying playing Prem for Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. Guess why? Because he is a die-hard Salmaan Khan fan and Prem is now almost his hero's pet name. Of course, how lucky can anyone get? Yes, we are talking about Harshad Chopra — Ali of Left Right Left. If that still does not ring a bell, then he is Akshad of Amber Dhara, who did a disappearing act in the middle of the serial.
We catch him along with his co-star for Kis Desh …Aditi Gupta at The Taj –17. The duo has come to town for promoting the serial (what else?). Harshad is the talkative one between the two and as he grabs the mike, we come to know about this small town guy who landed up in the televille via Grasim Mr India contest. Yes, he won the Best Smile contest, way back in 2006-07, but could not clinch the title. Well, that did not stop our guy who was studying in Pune at that time to audition for Mamta. And he managed to get the role of Karan. "Before Mamta happened, I was trying out everywhere. This serial gave me a proper platform and also the power to chose the characters I play now."
But playing Ali in Left Right… was the most exhilarating experience for this actor. "I am a small town guy myself and playing that simpleton character came naturally because Ali was someone I could relate to."
The character he is playing in Kis Desh Mein…is close to his heart too. "It is character which is passion, rawness, young and so many different shades to it." How does he go about selecting his roles? "I don't go with a pre-conceived notion. If the character appeals to me, I take it." Given a chance, Harshad would like to play some strong character.
Aditi's story is of a simple college girl who never dreamt of becoming an actor. This is her first serial and she plays the role of Heer Maan. Heer is a lawyer by profession, not a rebellious character but fights for the cause she believes in. "I was doing a fashion designing course from Pune when I was almost forced to take an audition for Kis Desh Mein…" What attracted her was of course the role she was offered. And what attracted the Balaji to select her as Heer, we ask. "My innocent face," comes the reply.

Additi Gupta: Kis Des Mein's Heer blew away competition with her remarkable performance. A fashion designer in terms of qualification, this girl from Pune won hearts with her moving debut.
Gurmeet Chaudhary: This model hails from Madhya Pradesh. He made his debut in the form of Lord Rama in NDTV Imagine's Ramayan. Before this, he has done many south movies and small TV shows and some music videos as well.
Dhriti Bhatia: The small Krishna from Jai Shri Krishna has been the toast of Indian television. The 3 year old who plays a natkhat makhanchor in the show. This is her first show on the small screen for which active Dhriti got selected with her first audition itself.
Bharat Chawda: More popularly known as Kahaani's Ishaan, Bharat has rolled in a number of fans by his killer feat in the serial. Having done theatre earlier, Bharat was seen as a finalist in Zee Cinestars ki khoj. He was then offered Kahaani which was his first accomplishment followed by Tyohaar Dhamaka. Now the Kahaani guy is seen portraying the role of Abhimanyu in Kasturi.
Anjali Abrol: Anjali who is presently seen with her beau Kapil in Nach Baliye stepped into the world of television as the lead actress in Raja ki Aayegi Baraat this year. The Kashmiri girl has been doing quite well and has become the darling of the audiences.
